This was a great suggestion from Uncle Billy.  Let use this category to show off our paint jobs and get inspiration from others!

I love that you included the skeleton entrance from our foundations 3 kickstarter.  That was the piece that we cut our teeth on kit making with and learned oh so so much [smile]

The good the bad and the ugly! it turns out that it ended up being a kickstarter exclusive and you have one of the couple hundred that will ever be in existence!

You also did a beautiful job painting it up and cleaning it up!  Thank you so much for sharing this!

The ones that I finished painting! [biggrin]

Good work, aplanc! I'll have to steal a few ideas and touch up my mimics!

Hi all,

I painted up the Forge Prints bookshelf the other day. It was my first time painting resin. I have to say, removing mold lines from resin is so much easier than metal or PVC minis! It's like a dream!

The bookshelf was a bit smaller than I was expecting, so I didn't end up line highlighting the books like I planned. However, it still looks pretty good when it's not enlarged for a photo.

Unlike some of the other Forge Prints minis, like the barrels and treasure chests, the bookshelf doesn't have a strong wood texture that can be washed and drybrushed, so I painted the wood grain effect on by layering.

Overall, I enjoyed painting the mini and am I'm looking forward to painting up additional Forge Prints minis in the coming weeks!

Outstanding job! Multiple levels of highlights add depth. The gold book binding straps look impossible to paint. Impressive.

The faux wood grain painting on the book case is beautiful. I've done similar on full size furniture pieces and this pulls it off just as nicely.

I painted up a few more Forge Prints minis over the last week.

Here's the Crumbled Fountain, which I painted as a fountain of blood:

I use mostly Reaper paints, but the blood effect is Tamiya Clear Red with a bit of brown ink mixed in.

Here is the Mimic Treasure Sack Set:

And here is the Obelisk, which I painted to look like it was made of obsidian:

I wasn't sure how to paint obsidian, so I painted it the way I would paint a crystal, with near-white line highlights along all the edges. The line highlights were the only highlighting I did, since I really wanted to preserve the pure black appearance of obsidian. I also gave it a coat of gloss sealer at the end, to make it look more glass-like, though you can't really see that here.

I'm not a great photographer, but I did enjoy painting these two pairs of mimics. I had a number of mimic chests to paint (the Forgeprints chest, the Reaper mocking beast, and a large one that I sculpted as a conversion of a Mage Knight treasure chest playing piece. I added some green stuff sclpting work to both pieces here. The chest got a tonuge and an oystery  like foot beneath it. The trapdoor acquired some eyes and some fleshy areas inside the mouth ... also a little bit of fleshiness extending up into the wood on the back.
